Fall is finally upon us! Who knew that homesteading extended to the holiday season? I have been busy canning and preserving and now it’s time to start thinking about Christmas. Before we get into that holiday, though, there’s my favorite one: Halloween. One of my favorite things about this time of year is all the fun and easy pumpkin crafts for kids!
There are so many easy pumpkin crafts for kids that are perfect for those lazy days leading up to Halloween. From painting and carving to crafting and baking—there’s something for everyone! And best of all, these easy pumpkin crafts can be done in an afternoon or less.
Regardless, though, is there a better way to celebrate the autumn season than by crafting with your kiddos? These easy pumpkin crafts are perfect for kids of all ages.
And the best part? No carving is required! So if you’re looking for some fun and easy pumpkin crafts for kids, look no further!
Paint mini pumpkins
Try painting mini pumpkins in bright colors and patterns for a fun, festive fall decoration. You could even paint a face on each one and turn them into jack-o’-lanterns! Use painter’s tape to create stripes or other designs, then let your little ones go to town with the paintbrushes.
Turn those mini pumpkins into cute critters
If you’re looking for a more challenging project, try turning those painted pumpkins into cute critters! Use pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and other craft supplies. You can transform your pumpkins into spiders, bats or any other Halloween creature you can imagine!
Make pumpkin suncatchers
This easy craft is perfect for younger kids. Simply cut out pumpkin shapes from construction paper, then have your child glue on colorful fall leaves, glitter and anything else they want to decorate their suncatcher with. Hang the finished product in a sunny window to enjoy all season long.
Turn paper plates into pumpkin pies
This is a fun and easy craft that the whole family can help with. Simply decorate paper plates with orange paint or crayons to look like pumpkins. Then, add green “stems” made from construction paper. Once you have your “pies,” let everyone in the family add their own unique toppings. These include crumbled-up graham crackers for the crust, whipped cream, marshmallows and anything else you can think of!
Make a handprint pumpkin
This classic kids’ craft is always a hit. Paint your child’s hand orange, then press it onto a piece of construction paper to create the pumpkin shape. Add green “leaves” and a stem, then write your child’s name and the date. This is a great project to do each year to see how your child’s handprint changes over time.
Decorate foam pumpkins
Foam pumpkins are a great alternative to real ones, and they’re much easier to decorate! Let your kids go wild with glitter, paint, stickers and anything else they can think of. You can even use pipe cleaners or googly eyes to turn them into cute critters like we did with the mini pumpkins earlier.
Paint rocks to look like pumpkins
This is a fun project for kids of all ages. Simply collect some small rocks from your backyard or local park, then wash and dry them off. Once they’re clean, let your kids use orange paint to turn them into mini pumpkins. Add green “stems” made from pipe cleaners or construction paper, and you’re all set!
Make a pumpkin collage
This is a great project for younger kids who are just starting to get into crafts. Cut out pumpkin shapes from construction paper or old magazines, then have your child glue them onto a piece of paper. You can also add other fall-themed items like leaves, acorns and berries.
Stamp with pumpkin seeds
This is a fun and easy craft that even the littlest ones can enjoy. Simply place some pumpkin seeds onto a piece of paper, then have your child use them to stamp designs or patterns. You can also use paint, markers or crayons to add color to your child’s masterpieces.
Make a cardboard tube pumpkin
This is a great project for kids who are eager to help with Halloween decorating. Simply wrap a cardboard tube (toilet paper or paper towel rolls work great) in orange construction paper or tissue paper. Once it’s covered, add green “leaves” made from construction paper or tissue paper. Then, glue on Googly eyes and a mouth. You can also use markers or paint to add extra details.
Make a pumpkin clock
This is a great way to teach your kids about telling time while also getting into the Halloween spirit! Cut out a pumpkin shape from construction paper or an old magazine, then glue it onto a piece of paper. Use markers or paint to draw numbers around the edge of the pumpkin. Then, add hands made from pipe cleaners or paper clips. Set the clock to the current time, and voila! You have a homemade time-teller.
