Must-Haves When Travelling With A Dog (top 5)

If you haven’t met our precious Scarlett yet, let me introduce you.
She’s a 50 pound, 7 month old Chocolate Lab. When we decided that we wanted to full-time in October of 2016, we also decided that it would be a good time to go ahead and get our new puppy…so that she wasn’t so much of a puppy anymore. Well, she’s still very much a puppy, but we are so happy to have her. She’s been an amazing additon to the family and we couldn’t imagine hitting the road without her. But, having her brings on a whole ‘nother set of things to figure out when preparing to hit the road full-time. What kennel do we need to have? What about toys? Where we store her food? How do we do all of this in our small space? Well, as we were planning, we were able to really figure all of that out– and here’s what we found. I hope this helps!

Foldable Dog Crate
This is really an amazing deal. And probably the most important for Miss Scarlett. I was a little sceptical at first, but after getting it and using it for a week, I have nothing but great things to say about it. It is sturdy, holds up well and comes in a lot of different colors! Check out this video to see how easy it really is:
Collapsible Dog Bowls
Scarlett has to have her meals 3 times a day…but where were we going to keep her bowls? We found these bowls and they are perfect! We put them in the storage bin during the day when we aren’t using them (the water bowl pretty much stays at all day though. The take up virtually no-space and are way better than a full set of bowls.
Dog Harness
Scarlett’s is pink, but this brand is awesome. Being a super excited, Chocoalte Lab puppy, she is always wanting to run and jump on unsuspecting friends. Though it’s all filled with love, people don’t always like that. This harness has been a lifesaver. I love how it’s built and the amount of control I now have over her!

Waterless Shampoo
Let’s face it. Dogs get stinky sometimes. Especially if they’ve been swimming at the lake all day (yuck!) So we need to help them out but we don’t ALWAYS have a water option….or maybe they just got a bath yesterday and you don’t want to/feel like doing it again, especially since it will dry out their skin. That’s where this stuff comes in! It’s awesome, really does work and has a long-lasting scent!
Kong Dog Toys
Whether you need a fuzzy bear or a watter toy, Kong has some amazing things. Especially for a chewer. Scarlett can chew and play all day long and there’s not a dent. Her current favorite is Marvin the Moose. And, there are plenty of sizes to fit your available space!
DON’T FORGET: Disposable bags to clean up after your pet! We love these.
So, that’s our list of what we need when we hit the road with our pup. Of course, her food has to be stored in a secure bin by our countertop, and her leash just goes wherever with us (I don’t think that actually has a home, lol!) I’m sure everyone has different must-have’s so comment below and let us know what your’s is!
